Glastonbury Armed Robbery Suspect Facing Additional Charges

He and an alleged accomplice are already facing armed robbery charges in at least six other cases in central Connecticut.

NEWINGTON, CT - A Hartford man already facing charges of armed robbery in five different communities, including Glastonbury, was arrested last week in connection with a pair of armed robberies in Newington late last year, and a second resident of the capital city was charged with participating in one of the incidents.

Randall Michaels, 33, was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, fourth-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, first-degree reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon.

According to an arrest warrant, Michaels is accused is participating in the armed robbery of the Subway sandwich shop at 975 Main Street on Nov. 18, 2015, and a second robbery at the Quick Stop Convenience Store at 1125 Willard Avenue on Dec. 7, 2015.

Michaels was alleged to be armed with a handgun during both robberies. During the Quick Stop incident, the store clerk was assaulted, police said.

According to judicial records, Michaels has pending charges of committing robberies in five other towns during a three-month stretch of late 2015. Those incidents took place in Hartford (Sept. 14), Glastonbury (Nov. 19), West Hartford (Nov. 21 and Dec. 14), Manchester (Nov. 30) and Bloomfield (Dec. 12).

He is currently being held on bonds totaling $730,000, and is due back in Hartford Superior Court Aug. 12.

A second Hartford man, Timothy Warren, 49, was charged by Newington police with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery in connection with the Quick Stop robbery.

Judicial records indicate he has also been in custody in connection with six other robberies in a three-week span: West Hartford (Nov. 21 and Dec. 14), Hartford (Dec. 4), East Hartford (Dec. 6), Windsor (Dec. 11) and Bloomfield (Dec. 12).

Warren is currently being held in lieu of bonds totaling $419,000. He is scheduled to return to Hartford Superior Court Sept. 2.
