Glastonbury Christmas Tree to be Cut Down Next Spring
The huge fir tree in town center is diseased and needs to be cut down come spring, according to town officials.
This coming holiday season will be the last for the Christmas tree in town center, which has stood since it was first planted in the ‘70s.
The massive concolor fir, also known as a white fir, will remain standing through the winter, but will have to be taken down come spring. The tree is too diseased to be saved, and must be taken down for safety, according to town officials.

The tree has shown a particular decline in the last two years, with marked discoloration and loss of needles. In spring it will be cut down and its root system will be dug up, and a new 15-foot concolor fir will be planted in its place, officials said.
