Glastonbury Dog Licenses Due This Month

Town Officials have sent out reminders.

GLASTONBURY, CT - It's Dog Licensing Month and town officials recently sent out an advisory:

Just a friendly reminder that June is time to Renew Your Dog License(s)! If you haven’t already done so, please remember to license your dog before June 30th to avoid a $1 per Month State imposed late fee beginning in July. (Current licenses are valid through 6/30/2015.) The license you purchase during the month of June is valid July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

*Please note: If you are licensing a dog for the first time, you must do so through U.S. mail or in person at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall.

Renewing ONLINE
You can purchase your renewal tag anytime in June through our ONLINE DOG LICENSE RENEWAL SYSTEM, where you'll have the ability to attach documentation, such as rabies vaccination and/or spay/neuter information, and submit credit card payment for the license. (An additional convenience fee will apply).

*If you are unable to scan/upload the Rabies and/or Spay/Neuter certificates, you will have to submit your request through the US mail or in person at the Town Clerk’s office.

Renewing by US MAIL:

Please send ALL of the information below to mailing address: Town Clerk, PO Box 6523, Glastonbury, CT 06033-6523.

  • A VALID Rabies Certificate which shows the Expiration date of the rabies vaccine, as your vet does not provide this information to the town.
  • A Spay/Neuter Certificate if your dog has recently been spayed or neutered.
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope.
  • The fee for your licensing. Click here to view fees.
  • The cost for return postage - amount will depend on how many dogs you are licensing: $0.68 for 1 dog and $0.89 for 2 dogs. Please add $0.21 for each additional dog if you have more than 2.

Renewing in person at Town Clerk's Office:

Please bring the following information with you to the Town Clerk's office in Town Hall, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm anytime in June:

  • A VALID Rabies Certificate which shows the Expiration date of the rabies vaccine, as your vet does not provide this information to the town.
  • A Spay/Neuter Certificate if your dog has recently been spayed or neutered.

Helpful Tips and Regulations:

  • The fee for an Unaltered dog is $19.
  • The fee for a Spayed or Neutered dog is $8. In order to receive the lower Spayed/Neutered Fee, you must submit a neuter/spay certificate to the Town Clerk at the time the license is issued.
  • All dogs 6 months of age and over must be licensed within 30 days and wear a collar and tags at all times.
  • To use the Dog Park, all dogs must be wearing a valid, town-issued license tag on their collar, and a valid rabies vaccination tag.
  • A dog without a tag is presumed to be unlicensed and is not protected by law.
  • A tag must not be used on any dog other than the dog it was issued to.
  • All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies and owners must submit a certificate to the Town Clerk when licensing their dog per P.A. 85-167.
  • Owners of roaming dogs are liable to prosecution.
