Glastonbury Field Hockey Team Makes the Final Four; Girls Soccer Also Advances

GLASTONBURY, CT — Seeking its third state championship, but first outright, the Glastonbury High School field hockey team took another big step Friday, defeating CCC rival South Windsor 3-0 in the Class L quarterfinals.

The top-seeded Tomahawks will close a semifinal doubleheader Tuesday at Watertown High School, facing No. 4 Darien at 6 p.m. The other semifinal matchup, pitting second-seeded Enfield against No. 3 Staples, opens at 4 p.m.

On the soccer pitch, Glastonbury easily advanced to the Class LL quarterfinals with a 7-0 shutout of No. 17 Shelton. The Tomahawks, in search of their third consecutive state title, will host No. 9 Staples in a quarterfinal contest Monday at 2 p.m.
