"Assistant Chief Pagliughi was a legend within the department for his quick wit and no-nonsense attitude, the department said in the Facebook post.
Pagliughi was an auxiliary state trooper assigned to Troop H in Hartford. After graduating from Glastonbury High School in 1972, he joined his father working at Glastonbury Oil & Service Station before becoming co-owner of the Glastonbury Oil Company.
He had a passion for cars, especially Ford muscle cars, and showed his 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie at events throughout the region.
