Glastonbury Firefighter Returns Home after Battling Wildfires in Quebec
Michael Senyk, a Glastonbury firefighter, was one of the 19-member crew that left Connecticut on July 20 to head to northern Quebec, where they fought a 30,000 acre wildfire.

A group of Connecticut firefighters are returning home this week after battling wildfires in Quebec over the past few weeks, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said in a news release.
DEEP states the crew was expected to arrive at Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough Wednesday evening.
The 19-member crew that was made up of 9 DEEP employees and 10 private-sector firefighters, included Glastonbury firefighter Michael Senyk.
Senyk, along with the other crew members, left Connecticut on July 20 and were sent to northern Quebec where they were fighting a 30,000 acre wildfire located in the far eastern side of the Province near Baie-Comeau, Quebec.

According to the release, "The crew assisted Canada under the auspices of the Northeast Forest Fire Compact. The Compact is a mutual aid agreement between several northeastern states and Eastern Canadian Provinces."
Members of Connecticut's crew received excellent reviews from the Northeast Forest Fire Compact, the release stated.
