Glastonbury Golf Club Theft Suspect Faces More Charges
Police arrested the suspect on charges for 2 more thefts during last fall's spree.

The Glastonbury man already facing burglary and larceny charges in connection with eight thefts of golf clubs from town homes last fall, was arrested Friday on charges related to two more cases.
Derek A. Benson, 29, of 269 Georgetown Dr., Glastonbury, was arrested again as he appeared in Manchester Court Friday on the earlier charges. He and another man, Justin Scalise, 22, of West Hartford, have been accused of swiping expensive sets of golf clubs from garages or parked cars in town and then reselling them at a Hartford-area golf center.
Benson was charged Friday with two counts each of third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit those charges. Bond on the new charges totals $125,000.

In a statement, police said, “Derek Benson was served with two active arrest warrants while making a court appearance at GA-12 / Manchester. The warrants stemmed from the investigation into 10 reported residential burglaries involving the theft of high end golf equipment from residential garages in late 2014. Benson had previously been arrested for his involvement in the other 8 burglaries.”
