Glastonbury High School Student selected for All-National Honor Ensemble
Glastonbury High School Student, Mai Vestergaard, plays on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville

As one of the most elite high school musicians in the nation, Mai Vestergaard, a senior of Glastonbury High School, was selected for the National Association for Music Education’s (NAFME) 2015 All-National Honor Symphony Orchestra which performed on October 28, during the 2015 NAfME National In-Service Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mai has been playing the violin since she was 4 years old and since then she has been active in the performing arts. At age 7, she joined the Colchester Civic Orchestra and at 12 she became a member of the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and violist. Now 17, she is currently the concertmistress of the GHS Chamber Orchestra, where she soloed the Mendelsohn’s Violin Concerto and Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 at the fall concert. This year she founded the Tri- M Music Honor Society at GHS to promote musicianship among the community. She was selected as the concertmistress for the 2015 CT All-State Music Festival Orchestra earlier this year. She was also chosen to participate in 2015 All-Eastern Honor Ensemble in Providence, RI and she received the highest adjudication score at New England Music Festival audition.
In addition to her music activities, she is a member of the GHS crew team and a math tutor at Smith Middle School. Also, she enjoys participating in Bikram Yoga and volunteering at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
