
Carol Anne (Podann) Brown, 80, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the widow of Raymond S. Brown.
Carol was born in Hartford on July 3, 1937, a daughter of the late Herman and Ethel (Lingner) Podann. She was preceded in death by her beloved younger brother Joseph Podann.
She was the office manager for Dr. William Maxwell Liebman, DDS and Dr. Brad Heim, DDS in Glastonbury for 33 years until her retirement. Carol loved to garden, first helping her parents with theirs and later building her own backyard oasis. She enjoyed singing and was a member of Sweet Adelines Mountain Laurel Chapter for ten years. She also sang in several church choirs.

Carol was a dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and enjoyed her time in the church quilting group, where she had many friends and many laughs. Carol was a die-hard Yankees baseball fan and never missed watching a game. She also loved traveling to Cape Cod, and she and Ray would even go just for the day to have lunch (and dessert at the Sundae School).
Carol felt blessed to remain in her home and sincerely appreciated the company and support of her friends, neighbors, extended family, and special Visiting Angel, Sashen Clarke.

Carol is survived by her identical twin daughters, Beth O’Brien (and her spouse Richard O’Brien) of Davie, FL and Susanne Turnbull (and her spouse James Turnbull) of Walnut Creek, CA and her three adored grandchildren, Chase O’Brien, Paige O’Brien and Joseph (Joey) Turnbull.
Funeral services have been changed and will now take place at 10 am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1655 Main St., Newington. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Monday morning. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s name may be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
