Glastonbury Obituary: David Roser, 86

David Owen Roser, 86, of West Hartford and formerly of Glastonbury, beloved husband and friend to all, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 4th surrounded by family.

David grew up in Glastonbury, attending school at Glastonbury High, Northfield Mount Hermon, Dickinson College and University of Hartford. He is well known for his stories on the sea in the Merchant Marines, and in the Army during the Korean War. He played an active role in the Roser Leather Tannery in Glastonbury until starting his own personnel agency in Hartford.

Growing up in Glastonbury in the 1930’s and ‘40’s, David saw a lot of change in town and would share many a story of the good old days. Skating on the ponds before the ice was thick enough, sledding on the streets, taking the trolley cars, working on the tobacco fields and unloading railroad cars at Melzen’s Feed and Grain. David volunteered at the Green Cemetery Association in Glastonbury and was always available to be a helping hand to friends and neighbors. A lover of boating, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors – he landed his final bass on the CT River just 2 weeks ago. He was proud of the time he spent with family and the fun times driving at race tracks in Lime Rock and Bridgehampton.

David is survived by his loving wife Aura Marina Roser and her son Eric Crawford as well as his three sons – Robert and his wife Lauri of Chicago, Jamie and his wife Joann of Boston and their children Matthew of Los Angeles and Greta, as well as Mark and his wife Susan and their children Will and Wes of Hebron.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Thursday June 9th, at St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St, Glastonbury, burial to follow at the Green Cemetery in Glastonbury.
