Glastonbury Obituary: George Kepler, 90

Condolences to his family and friends.

George Adam Kepler, 90, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Patricia (McCauley) Kepler, died Wednesday April 6, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

Born September 30, 1925 in Reading, PA, son of the late C. Collins and Mary (Weber) Kepler he had lived in Glastonbury many years. George graduated from Reading High School and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Princeton University in 1950. At Princeton he played baseball and was captain of the team in his senior year. After graduation he started his lifetime career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as a test engineer of jet engines. George served in the US Army under George Patton in the European theater. In addition to his happy times with his family, George enjoyed tennis, reading and music. He played tennis into his 80’s with a group of longtime friends.

Besides his wife he is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Alison and Michael Cole of Bolton, Amy and John Klein of Avon, two beloved granddaughters, Shannon Cole and Mari Klein, his brother Edward Kepler and his wife Ellie of Manchester, his sister-in-law Mary Young and her husband Jack and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 11 at 10 am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday April 10 from 2-5pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hartford Symphony or to the CT Audubon Society.
