
Joseph John Jiovo, 69, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Gail (Lawson) Jiovo, died Friday October 14, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.
Born March 18, 1947 in Hartford, son of the late Peter C. and Maryane (Shuteran) Jiovo he was a lifelong resident of Glastonbury. Joe graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1966. He worked in the Glastonbury Post Office as a mail carrier, SNET as a linesman, but raising pheasants was what he did the best and loved the most. He worked his way up in the fire department from a firefighter to engineer to lieutenant, to captain in the 17 years he was a member.
Besides his wife he leaves his 2 daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Kevin Kessler, Katharine and Kenny Wiendl and grandchildren Ashley and TJ Kessler, a sister Sandra Agnew and her husband Charles and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses that cared for Joe and made his last days comfortable, especially all the nurses and PCA’s on CB2, Christine, Jennifer, Nancy, Maria, Karleen, Symone and Eve to name a few. We thank you with all our hearts. A special thanks to Amy who was with us from the start and all the game clubs for their continued support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday Oct. 20 at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury (everyone please meet directly at church). Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Wednesday Oct. 19 from 4-7pm.
