Glastonbury Police Department Names Officer of the Year

GLASTONBURY, CT — Agent Brandon Ritchie has been named the 2016 Glastonbury Officer of the year.

Agent Brandon Ritchie has been with the Glastonbury Police Department since April 11, 2011.

During 2016, Agent Ritchie took on the largest active case load of any officer in the department which has resulted in the clearance of 192 criminal investigations with arrests. Many of the suspects arrested in these cases were multi-offender, convicted felons with lengthy criminal histories. Many of these cases took months of work and evidence gathering in order to develop a suspect. One of the more notable cases Agent Ritchie investigated in 2016 was an armed robbery committed by two assailants at a local nail salon. A lengthy investigation which started with very few leads and low level evidence resulted in the arrest of both suspects. One of these suspects was a convicted felon who was on probation at the time of the offense for having committed two previous armed robberies. Agent Ritchie’s diligence and dedication to his case work have contributed to making the community a safer place to work, live and visit.
Agent Ritchie has always been a diligent and tireless worker in the Investigations Division, since his arrival in the division in October, 2014. His performance and dedication have been recognized by numerous members of the law enforcement community in the greater Hartford area. He has been referred to as an outstanding resource for criminal intelligence, particularly in regards to the substantial number of vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries which occurred in many communities within the region.
Agent Ritchie found his niche with the agency during his time in the Investigations Division, where he worked countless hours in honing his skills in all types of investigations, large and small. His “bulldog” work ethic during his time in the Investigations Division has been unmatched and he is absolutely relentless in bringing a case to a successful conclusion, when others would have not given it any possibility of being solved.
Agent Ritchie’s familiarity with the town and the list of frequent offenders has made him an invaluable asset to the agency. His ability to recall elements from prior case investigations made it possible for many future cases to be solved. He also has made and maintained several contacts with other agencies throughout the state and the networking he established made the Glastonbury Police Department an asset to many others in the area.
Agent Ritchie is very driven and dedicated to his work. He leaves no stone unturned and he keeps digging for facts. Agent Ritchie is often responsible for investigating a large number of cases at a time; however, all his case investigations remain organized, up to date, and extremely detailed.
Agent Ritchie’s efforts have put many community residents and merchants at ease and have ended crime sprees that have plagued this community and the rest of the State.
Based on his continuing outstanding performance, specifically relating to the calendar year 2016, Agent Ritchie continues to be one of the most dedicated tireless and diligent police officers in the agency. Agent Ritchie represents one of the best that this agency has to offer to the community and he is most deserving of the title of the 2016 Glastonbury Police Officer of the Year.
