Glastonbury Police Seeking Donations For New Canine Program

The Glastonbury Police Department has introduced a canine unit and is seeking donations to support the initiative.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The Glastonbury Police Department has introduced a canine unit and is seeking donations to support the initiative.

Police dogs assist human officers with finding missing persons, searching buildings, providing support at public events, and a number of other safety and community activities.

Contributions will support the ongoing expenses associated with the program including dog and officer training, safety equipment, veterinary care, food, toys, and protective clothing.

A fundraising account has been established to support ongoing program needs. Donations may be sent to the Glastonbury Police Department, 2108 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033, with checks made payable to the Town of Glastonbury withthe note “K9 Program” in the check memo. Donors will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax deduction purposes.

Donors so far include the Glastonbury Rotary Club, Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department Company No. 2, the Glastonbury Exchange Club, the MLK Community Initiative, and private citizens.
