Glastonbury Resident Knocked Out Of Bed As Car Enters House

A car slammed into a Glastonbury house and knocked a resident out of bed, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A Glastonbury resident was thrown from a bed after an accused drunken driver slammed his vehicle into a house on Hopewell Road, police said.

The crash took place Sunday at 1:44 a.m., according to a report. A vehicle driven by 37-year-old Glastonbury resident Richard Bassette hit a sign warning about a curve, then a parked car and then a house, according to a report.

His vehicle entered the house, hit a bed and jarred a resident from the bed, according to a report.

The resident was evalauted at the scene and not transported to any hospital, police said. Bassett was charged with driving under the influence, according to a report.

The vehicle was uninsured, unregistered and the plate affixed to it did not belong on the car and related charges were added to Bassett's case, according to a report.
