Glastonbury School Board Mulls Changes in Spring Vacation

Parents will have the opportunity to comment on the proposed changes would go into effect for the 2016 school year.

Glastonbury parents will need to mark the calendars for planned changes with the annual spring vacation.

According to The Courant, the annual spring vacation for the 2016-17 school year will be rescheduled from the traditional third week in April to the second week. The 2017 April vacation will run from April 10 to 14 and April 9 to 13 in 2018.

And beginning with the 2016 school year, school systems served by the Capitol Region Education Council will be required to follow a common calendar that will have the first day of school for students in grades 7 through 12 be the last Wednesday in August, with grades from K through 6 going back the next day.

The school board will vote on the planned calendar changes at its Sept. 28 meeting, according to The Courant article that can be found here.
