Glastonbury Traffic Alert: Partial Bridge Closure Planned on Route 3

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced there will be a full southbound directional weekend closure of the William H. Putnam Bridge (Route 3 over the Connecticut River).
The southbound closure (Glastonbury heading to Wethersfield) will take place the upcoming weekend of July 10 to July 13, weather permitting, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday.

The southbound direction of the bridge will be closed to traffic between the Main Street exit in Glastonbury and I-91 in Wethersfield. Motorists will be directed to I-91 via Route 2 westbound and Route 15 southbound to the Charter Oak Bridge.
This scheduled closure as well as the additional directional closures listed below are required for the final milling and paving of the bridge as part of the ongoing $35 million bridge rehabilitation project. The planned schedule of directional closures may change based on weather or unforeseen circumstances:

• 7/10/15 – 7/13/15 southbound closure (Glastonbury heading to Wethersfield)
• 7/17/15 – 7/20/15 northbound closure (Wethersfield heading to Glastonbury)
• 7/24/15 – 7/27/15 southbound or northbound closure
• 7/31/15 – 8/03/15 southbound or northbound closure
Signs and police officers will be stationed at key intersections to guide motorists.
