Each year the C-Suite Awards recognize the top executives in Connecticut who have made significant contributions to their companies—and in 2021 the HBJ identified Tobias and this year’s other honorees as leaders who stood out for their commitment to excellence and guiding their organizations through extremely difficult conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Laurie has helped transform Johnson Brunetti into one of the top wealth management firms, as well as one of the most active, community minded companies in the region—and we couldn’t be happier that her efforts, leadership and track record are being recognized in such a well-respected manner like a C-Suite Award,” said Joel Johnson, CFP, Managing Partner of Johnson Brunetti.

As a member of Johnson Brunetti’s C-Suite team, CMO Laurie Tobias is responsible for all marketing and public relations activities for the firm’s seven office locations, including the company’s main headquarters in Wethersfield and its newest branch in Needham, MA, which represents the company’s first expansion outside of Connecticut. Tobias has spearheaded external campaigns that have positioned Johnson Brunetti as the region’s go-to advisor for retirement strategies and a well-established—and often turned to—presence within the community. She works closely with media contacts in each of the regions in which JB does business and oversees each segment of the firm’s owned media assets—including websites, social media, sponsorships, marketing materials, digital content, advertising, branding, event planning, company volunteerism and community relations.

Over the past decade Johnson Brunetti has earned a reputation as a charitable leader in the region, thanks to the community relations programs put in place by Tobias. The firm has supported and collaborated with many local organizations, including The Salvation Army, Hartford’s Camp Courant, Dress for Success, Wounded Warriors, East Hartford Public Schools, Mystic Aquarium, Make-A-Wish Connecticut, House of Heroes, the Manchester Elks’ Holiday Luncheon for Veterans, American Red Cross, Holiday Light Fantasia to support the Channel 3 Kids Camp and the annual Veterans’ Day flower deliveries at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home.

Outside of Johnson Brunetti, Tobias volunteers time mentoring Hartford area students through Career Beginnings, a program of the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education that assists young people with graduating from high school, pursuing higher education and finding careers. She also sits on the Board of Directors of For All Ages, a nonprofit organization that provides intergenerational programs where youth and seniors can connect and share their passions, skills, knowledge and experience. She has also volunteered her time serving on the Gala Committee for the American Heart Association, helping to raise awareness and funds that fueled research on strokes.

Tobias is a resident of Glastonbury, Connecticut.
