Glastonbury's Brooke Strauss Officially Gets Athlete Of The Year Hardware

GLASTONBURY, CT — Brooke Strauss is now shining as a runner for the University of Connecticut, but last weekend she received a major award for her body of work at Glastonbury High School.

Strauss was officially presented her award as the Connecticut Sports Media Alliance's Female Athlete of the Year for 2025 on May 16 at the organization's annual Gold Key Dinner.

The dinner had been rescheduled from the fall.

During her senior year at GHS, Strauss was named both the 2024-25 Gatorade girls Cross Country Runner of the Year and the 2024-25 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year.

That year, she won 11 CIAC individual state titles and GHS captured the state open cross country championship.

She set state and New England records and won a National Title in the mile at the New Balance indoor meet with a time of 4:39.53.

She maintained a weighted 4.52 grade point average.
