Journey Tribute Band Headlining Glastonbury Riverfront Music Series Wednesday

GLASTONBURY, CT — A Journey tribute band will headline Glastonbury’s Riverfront Music Series on Wednesday as the town hosts a makeup concert postponed from July.

Legend — A Tribute to Journey will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Riverfront Community Center and Fairgrounds, 300 Welles St. The free concert is presented by the town and the CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The event is family- and pet-friendly, with pets required to be leashed in accordance with town ordinance. Attendees may bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and beverages.

Organizers encourage attendees to carpool or use the complimentary shuttle service. Shuttles will operate from 5:45 to 9 p.m., picking up passengers at the Dog Park parking lot at 200 Welles St. and the Ss. Isidore and Maria Parish parking lot at 2577 Main St. and transporting them to the Riverfront Community Center fairgrounds.

Parking at the Riverfront Community Center will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, including designated handicap spaces.

Residents also can walk or bike to the concert. Free parking is available at the Town Hall/Academy campus, with a roughly half-mile walking trail connecting the area to Riverfront Park. Bike racks are available at the Riverfront Park baseball field, the Glastonbury Boathouse and the Riverfront Community Center.

Indoor restrooms will be available at the community center, with portable toilets also provided on the fairgrounds.

The town also will collect nonperishable, nonexpired food donations for the Glastonbury Food Pantry. Donations can be dropped off at the blue Parks and Recreation tent during the concert.
