Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting a Child in Glastonbury
The man was in custody on a high bond.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A Manchester man is in custody on a bond totaling three-quarters of a million dollars in a sexual assault case involving a child, Glastonbury police said.
Police did not release the age of the child. They did say Derek Symes, 43, of 27 Thompson Road, Manchester, has been charged with second-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child, illegal sexual contact and disorderly conduct.
Symes was taken into custody on March 17, according to a police report shared by police on Friday. Court records indicate a judge upheld the $750,000 bond initially placed on his case and Symes remained in custody on Friday afternoon.
