Man Charged for 2014 ID Theft at Glastonbury Fitness Club
A man has been charged for a 2014 ID theft in Glastonbury, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A man was brought to Glastonbury from a lockup in Massachusetts to face charges stemming from a a 2014 identity theft case a a local fitness club, police said.
John Root, 41, was incarcerated on Massachusetts, but was charged locally on Aug. 17, police said. The theft took place at the Workout World fitness center in Glastonbury four years ago, police said.
Root was charged with third-degree identity theft, a felony, according top a report. He was also charged with credit card theft, the illegal use of a credit card and both fifth- and sixth-degree larceny, according to a report.

Root's initial $30,000 bond was upheld in court the same day he was arrested and he is due back before a judge on Sept. 7, according to judicial system records.
