Man Who Admitted Robbing Glastonbury Credit Union Sentenced to Prison

Police had found more than $81,000 in stolen money inside his Enfield home upon execution of a search warrant in 2015.

An Enfield man was sentenced to prison by a U.S. District judge in Hartford for perpetrating three armed robberies in north central Connecticut in 2014 and 2015.

David M. Johnson, 28, was sentenced by Judge Robert N. Chatigny to 97 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to a written statement by Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Johnson pleaded guilty to armed robbery in connection with a holdup at the First Niagara Bank in Windsor on the morning of Jan. 10, 2015. He also admitted to committing armed robberies at the Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union in East Windsor on July 21, 2014, and the Nutmeg State Credit Union in Glastonbury on Nov. 7, 2014, Daly said.

On the evening of Jan. 10, 2015, investigators executed a search warrant at Johnson’s home and found a total of $81,946 in cash, most of which was bound by First Niagara Bank strapping that had been initialed by an employee. A .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a fully-loaded magazine was also seized during that search, Daly said.

Odain J. Johnson of Hartford, an accomplice of David Johnson, pleaded guilty in 2015 to one count of armed bank robbery stemming from his role in the Windsor heist, and was sentenced to 70 months in prison, Daly said.
