Man Who Jumped Off Highway Bridge ID'd As Glastonbury Resident

The man who jumped to his death from a highway overpass on Thursday morning has been identified as a Glastonbury resident.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The man who jumped to his death from a highway overpass on Thursday morning has been identified as a 58-year-old Glastonbury resident.

State police have identified the man who died after jumping off a highway overpass Thursday morning onto Interstate 84 as Harry Barrett, 56, of Glastonbury.

State police received several calls beginning at 7:52 a.m., about someone who had jumped from the Interstate-384 connector and landed onto the westbound lanes of Interstate-84 near the Exit 59 and 58 corridor, according to a report.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

A spokesman for the chief medical examiner’s office classified the case as a suicide. The man's name was released on Friday morning, but it being withheld by Patch.
