Norman D. Bartlett, Jr., 83; Retired Pratt and Whitney Engineer Who Lived in South Glastonbury

Norman D. Bartlett, Jr., 83, of South Glastonbury, beloved husband of Jean (Love) Bartlett, died Tuesday March 3, 2015 at the Glastonbury Health Care Center.

Born May 11, 1931 in Astoria, NY, son of the late Norman D., Sr. and Marion (Miller) Bartlett, he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 52 years.

Norman graduated from Brown University and served three years in the US Navy. Prior to his retirement in 1991 he was an Engineer for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 34 years. Norman enjoyed watching all sports and loved to play tennis. He enjoyed birding, something that he taught his wife to enjoy. He was an avid reader of books, newspapers and magazines. A skilled woodworker he made many cabinets for their home and cottage on Cape Cod a place that he loved.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Timothy D. and Diane Bartlett of Colchester; a brother Douglas M. Bartlett of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Christopher Fanelli and his fiancée Laurie Barton of NJ, Jennifer Poland and her husband Thomas of Rocky Hill; a great grandson Bryce Poland, a nephew Russell Bartlett of VA, 2 nieces, Laura Armstrong of AZ and Sharon Morehouse of NJ.

He was predeceased by his daughter Sherri Lynn Bartlett.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Glastonbury Health Care for the wonderful care given to Norman.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday March 9 at 11am in the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury (corner of Main and High Sts) with the Rev. Richard Allen officiating. Burial will be in Old Church Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday March 8 from 3-5pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Glastonbury VNA, 969 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT. 06033.
