Ramp Closures, Delays On Tap On Route 2 In Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY, CT — Ramp closures in Glastonbury related to the Route 2 milling and paving project will take effect Monday, officials from the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.

The ramp paving work on Route 2 traverses parts of Glastonbury and Marlborough and is set to begin on Monday at 9 p.m.

The project encompasses an approximately 8-mile section of Route 2 from mile marker 6.27 to mile marker 14.63. The focus is on improving "rideability" on Route 2, DOT officials said.

Officially classified as Project No. 0053-0201, the work was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Inc. at a cost of $15.3 million on Feb. 22.

The project is scheduled to be completed Nov. 1. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

The work will be accompanied by periodic ramp closures on Route 2 in Glastonbury and Marlborough east and westbound from Exits 9 to 12. The ramp closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be detour signage installed to guide motorists when the ramp is closed, officials said.
