Revised Opening Posted For Putnam Bridge Walkway In Glastonbury

There's a new date for the opening of the Putnam Bridge Bicycle and Pedestrian Walkway in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation is saying that the Putnam Bridge Bicycle and Pedestrian Walkway is now slated to open in mid-May.

It had already been moved to mid-April.

Crews have been working on improvements to the pedestrian bridge deck and protective fencing in an effort to finish the project, officials said.

Paving has been completed, but the trail is still an active construction zone and the public is being advised to not attempt to access the trail until the announced date, officials said.

In July 2022, the DOT officially broke ground on the Putnam Bridge Trail connections between Wethersfield and Glastonbury across the Connecticut River.

When completed, the Putnam Bridge Trail Connections Project will provide non-motorized access across the Connecticut River by linking the shared used path on the Putnam Bridge to Great Meadow Road in Wethersfield and Naubuc Avenue in Glastonbury, according to the plans.
