GLASTONBURY, CT — It seems those orange cones won't be part of the holiday decorations this weekend along Route 2.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation Thursday pledged construction-free highways for the holiday weekend.

"There will be no maintenance, inspection, or construction activities on major highways over the holiday weekend," DOT officials said in a social media post.

Only emergency roadwork will be performed, officials said.

Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police will be out in force in attempts to thwart drunken and reckless driving.
