The priciest home for sale in Glastonbury took its owners more than 13 years to put together.
GLASTONBURY, CT — The priciest home for sale in Glastonbury took its owners more than 13 years to put together. A French chateau in South Glastonbury, asking more than three times as much as any other house in town, tops the five most expensive homes on the market, according to Zillow.com.
No. 1 on the list is 105 Crystal Ridge Road, asking $7,200,000. The listing calls it the "Grand Dame of South Glastonbury," a custom French chateau built in 2016 with views stretching to Massachusetts and sunsets over the Hartford skyline. The 8,537-square-foot house has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and three half bathrooms on 1.89 acres. The listing says the owners spent more than 13 years gathering materials and ideas from the grand estates of France and Newport, R.I. Inside are eight fireplaces imported from Europe, chandeliers inspired by Versailles, Brazilian walnut and marble floors, solid mahogany doors and a circular marble staircase. The primary suite is entered through a rotunda, and there's an attached guest house. It has been on Zillow for 103 days.
Just behind it is a house still to be built at 281 Woodland St., also in South Glastonbury, listed at $2,500,000. The price includes the 8.3-acre lot, which the listing calls the last one available in its neighborhood and which is also listed on its own for $699,900. Builder Frank DiBacco's planned 3,006-square-foot Colonial has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one half bathroom, with a first-floor primary suite and 14-foot ceilings in the great room and dining room. It has been on Zillow for 30 days.
