Uncovering the Hidden Job Market: Career Search Strategies" and "Big Data & Mapping"

ReferenceUSA returns to the Welles-Turner Memorial Library

On Thursday, July 16, 2:00 p.m., Bill Loges, Reference USA, makes a special trip to the library presenting a one-hour lecture on two Reference USA programs that were postponed this winter: “Uncovering the Hidden Job Market: Career Search Strategies” and “Big Data & Mapping”.

In “Uncovering the Hidden Job Market”, participants will learn the importance of having accurate information on applications and resumes, creating engaging cover letters, assembling a network of references and referrers, finding key persons at a business to act as mentors, building datasets of potential employers based on skill set, work history and preferences as well as how to prepare for interviews and interactions through thorough research. While in “Big Data & Mapping”, participants will learn how to build a map to display results and how to manipulate the mapping tools to your advantage.

Seating is limited so registration is requested here or at the Reference Desk at 860-652-7720.
