Whole Foods helps local charity Heads Up! Hartford feed the hungry on April 8th, 2015

Shop at the Glastonbury Whole Foods on Wed, April 8th and support Heads Up! Hartford and their food packaging event to help feed the hungry.

On Wednesday, April 8th, Whole Foods in Glastonbury will donate a portion of their profits for the day to Heads Up! Hartford who will in turn use those funds to finance a food packaging event with End Hunger New England during their camp week in June. Just by shopping at Whole Foods on April 8th, you will be supporting Heads Up! Hartford and their campers as they develop leadership skills and experience community outreach firsthand AND help reduce food insecurity in our midst.

Founded here in Glastonbury, Heads Up! Hartford is a 501c3 charity entering its 12th year that brings together urban and suburban youth every summer for a week of volunteer work. These high school aged teens hail from Glastonbury, Hartford, East Granby, Canton, Manchester, New Britain, East Hartford, and other towns in the area. Each day of camp approximately 80 teens head out in teams of 10 with adult counselors – all volunteers – to serve others by working at places such as FoodShare, Glastonbury’s ABC House, CRT preschool programs, housing for the elderly and disabled, the Village for Children and Families, My Sister’s Place women’s shelter, and many others. This year they will spend an afternoon packaging thousands of meals through collaboration with End Hunger New England to be donated to FoodShare to support the hungry in the Hartford area.
