A lot of teenagers respond to their parents with one word answers or just plain ignore them. It makes parents feel upset or out of tune with their children. You’ve given so much to them and have done your best to raise them, I’m sure most parents feel they deserve more than a one word answer right?
But, I’m sure you’ve heard it before, it’s not unusual for teens to speak to their parents with one-word answers. "Where are you going?" "Somewhere." "When will you be back?" "Someday." "Who will you be with?" "Humans."
A good response to a one word answer such as the above is, "I need more information." Or, try to ask open ended questions such as, “Tell me about the people you’re going to be with.”
