'Abracadabra' Opens Tonight at Granby's Good Company Theater

Good Company Theater is proud to present its production of "Abracadabra," an original two-act musical by Reverend Denny Moon. It will be held on the stage of the South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St., Granby, CT,  March 28 thru April 7.  

This modern retelling of the story of the Prodigal Son combines magic, music, dance and humor in a moving production that is ultimately a story of redemption and the importance of family and love.  

Originally written as a high-school-age production in 1995, it has since moved on to other venues. Two of its songs, "Intertwined" and "Come Back Home," were included in a revue of new musicals in New York City.  

Deborah Gaudet, Managing Director of the Wadsworth Theater said of Abracadabra: “Each night I witnessed people being profoundly affected by the beautiful music and powerful scenes presented on the stage.  I, too, was surprised to find myself moved by the lyrics...and the meaning of Abracadabra.”

While playing at the Ivoryton Playhouse, Bob Cummings, local print theater reviewer said of "Abracadabra:" “It is highly spirited, melodious, visionary, profound, child-like, carefree and full of light....It deserves to be witnessed on a grand scale.”

In this fifth staging, Reverend Moon has added five new songs and new arrangements have been written by the show's musical director, John Carey, 2012 recipient of the Hartt School of Music's Undergraduate Composition Award.

Show dates are March 28 thru April 7 with performances at 7:30 pm and two morning matinees on Saturdays and Sunday, April 1.
