Granby Time Capsule To Preserve Town Life

GRANBY, CT — The Salmon Brook Historical Society is asking residents to help preserve a snapshot of Granby life for future generations as part of an America 250 time capsule project.

The society plans to bury its America 250 Time Capsule on Sunday, July 26, during a community celebration at 208 Salmon Brook Street. Submissions for the capsule are due by Sunday, July 19.

The historical society is seeking letters, photographs, stories, drawings, event programs, newspaper clippings and other items that capture what life in Granby is like today.

The July 26 celebration will run from 2 to 6 p.m. and will include the grand opening of the society’s new “School Girl Art” exhibit, featuring works created by generations of Granby women from the Salmon Brook Historical Society’s collection.

The time capsule burial and dedication ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The event will also include live music by the Decker Bandits, food and refreshments, family games, a scavenger hunt, ribbon cuttings, special dedications and wine tasting for guests 21 and older from 4 to 6 p.m.
