Granby To Bury Time Capsule

Music, food, history exhibits and family activities are planned July 26 at Salmon Brook Historical Society.

GRANBY, CT — Granby will continue its celebration of America’s 250th anniversary with an afternoon of music, food, local history and family activities at the Salmon Brook Historical Society on Sunday, July 26.

The America 250 Community Celebration will run from 2 to 6 p.m. at the historical society campus, 208 Salmon Brook St.

Organizers have planned live music from the Decker Bandits, food and refreshments, games, a scavenger hunt and an America 250 exhibit centered on Granby’s history. A wine tasting for attendees 21 and older is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m.

The event will also include a 4 p.m. time capsule dedication and burial, along with volunteer recognition. The historical society’s schedule lists a Milk Shed recognition with the Hayes family at 4:30 p.m., a ribbon-cutting for a historic gravestone interpretive display at 4:45 p.m., and a pathways ribbon-cutting at 5 p.m.

Campus tours and the children’s scavenger hunt are scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., while the America 250 exhibit will remain open throughout the event, according to the Salmon Brook Historical Society’s event calendar.

Residents who want to add materials to Granby’s time capsule have until Sunday, July 19, to submit items such as letters, photographs, stories, drawings and newspaper clippings, organizers previously said.
