Granby Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed

Police said a collision with a vehicle closed Granville Road for several hours Sunday evening.

GRANBY, CT — A Tariffville man died after a motorcycle crash Sunday evening at the intersection of Granville Road and Peck Orchard Road, Granby police said.

Mark Floryan, 69, was seriously injured when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle on Route 189 shortly after 5:42 p.m. Police said LifeStar transported him to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Capt. Kurt Laflamme confirmed Floryan's identity and death by email Monday night.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad processed the scene. Route 189 was closed during the investigation and has since reopened.

CT Insider first reported that the crash involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. WFSB reported that a nearby resident said LifeStar transported the motorcyclist; Granby police later confirmed the helicopter transport in its release.
