Granby Gavel Club returns for second year of youth public speaking (granbydrummer.com) — Granby middle and high schoolers can now register for the Granby Gavel Club's second year of youth public speaking, meeting twice monthly at the Granby Senior Center from Sept. 24 through May 27. The Toastmasters-modeled program offers low-pressure practice with speeches, meeting roles, and feedback, costs $60 with sibling and early-bird discounts, and is led by North Granby resident Philip Pape.
2. Enter the Granby Grange fair, it's not too late! (granbydrummer.com) — Granby residents still have time to enter their garden produce, baked goods, crafts, and photos in the Granby Grange Agricultural Fair on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the historic Grange Hall on North Granby Road. Entries are due Sept. 11 or early Sept. 12, with judging, ribbons, small cash prizes, and a patriotic sugar cookie contest celebrating the nation's 250th birthday.
3. Town of Granby contributes to Time Capsule (granbydrummer.com) — Granby's first selectman has penned a message to residents of 2076, accompanying a Heritage Time Capsule meant to capture what life in Granby is like in 2026. Packed with items from local newspapers to student letters and coins, the capsule is intended to showcase town traditions, spark future conversations, and celebrate Granby's spirit of volunteerism and community pride.
4. CREC high school football preview 2026 (ncadvertiser.com) — CREC's 2026 football preview includes a late-season Pequot Conference matchup against the Granby/Canton co-op on Nov. 19, giving local fans a look at a key opponent. With a new coach, returning playmakers, and a schedule of close conference games, CREC aims to build on last year's 6–4 turnaround and push for a Class SS playoff spot.
