EAST GRANBY, CT — East Granby students have more school meal options this fall through a partnership with Bloomfield Public Schools, supported by kitchen renovations and equipment upgrades.
Bloomfield is providing food service at Allgrove School, R.D. Seymour Elementary School, East Granby Middle School and East Granby High School, according to an Oct. 13 announcement from Bloomfield Public Schools.
"Small districts don't have to solve every challenge alone," East Granby Superintendent Suzanne Palmieri said in the announcement.
Staff from both districts worked on menus, staffing, equipment and the logistics of getting the program running. East Granby also renovated and upgraded its kitchens, the announcement said.
As Patch reported in August, the program was designed to provide breakfast and lunch each school day without requiring families to order ahead. The district announced free breakfast for all students during the 2026-27 school year and a standard lunch price of $4.62, with free and reduced-price lunches available to qualifying families.

Bloomfield officials said serving additional students could lower ingredient costs and improve access to grants for kitchen equipment. Any excess revenue from the East Granby service will go back into Bloomfield's meal program, with a goal of buying more from Bloomfield businesses and farms.
The announcement described the early response from East Granby families as encouraging, but did not provide participation figures or a financial breakdown.
"Bloomfield didn't simply provide East Granby with a service; our teams built something together," Palmieri said.
