Around the Campuses - Granby and East Granby College Students

GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Nine students from Eastern Connecticut State University participated in a Psychology Summer Research Institute from May 14 to 18. Under the mentorship of Professors Luis Cordon and Lyndsey Lanagan-Leitze, students were introduced to topics in sensation, perception, and cognitive neuroscience. Among the participants was Ryley LaPointe of Granby, who majors in Psychology. LaPointe researched how multitasking affects the size of the pupil and if people thought that they were good multitaskers.

Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY

• A pair of local residents graduated from Marist College the weekend of May 18. Bryan Chester of East Granby received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and Andrew Sullivan of Granby received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• On Saturday, May 12, on the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus quadrangle, over 1,000 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the university's 150th commencement ceremony. Four were awarded to residents of the Granbys: Tyler Beaupre of Granby was awarded a bachelor of science degree in computer science with high distinction; Samantha Eaton of East Granby was awarded a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with high distinction; Jessica Grabinsky of East Granby was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with high distinction; and Connor Hoeckele of Granby was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with distinction.
