Attention Pharmacists!!
The Capitol Region Medical Reserve Corps is in search of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techs, and Students!

Hello Capitol Region Registered Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Students,
The Pharmacy Unit of the Capitol Region Medical Reserve Corps (CR-MRC) would like to invite you to join our volunteer organization. We are looking for individuals with a strong sense of commitment and desire to help the community. If this sounds like you, please go to www.getreadycapitolregion.org. Click on “How to Volunteer”, then click on “CR-MRC Capitol Region Medical Reserve Corps”. At the bottom will be a link to sign up. Expect to hear from the Director within 48 hours.
What is the Capitol Region Medical Reserve Corps?
The CR-MRC is a group of volunteers who are ready to respond throughout the year, as well as in times of community need or any public health emergency. Health emergencies may consist of sheltering for natural disasters and storms, mass dispensing, or immunization for infectious outbreaks.
Who volunteers for the CR-MRC?
Individuals may be health professionals or have other careers, old or young, working or retired. In particular we are in search of fresh faces from the pharmacy field, who are willing to offer new ideas to increase our capacity and capability. Pharmacists and technicians must be licensed in Connecticut and live or work in one of the 41 towns that consist of the Capitol Region.
Why should I sign up?
If you are interested in offering a unique service to your community, this is a perfect opportunity. It allows individuals to work together with other professionals to learn new skills, share ideas, network, and form a sense of camaraderie. Pharmacists have experience working in many different healthcare environments and have a diverse amount of knowledge and experience to offer.
Do I need special training to volunteer?
No-your previous education, training and experience are valuable assets. There will be trainings for core competencies, both required and recommended, offered without cost to you.
What kind of time commitment is involved with volunteering?
The minimal commitment is one meeting with the entire CR-MRC once a month, as well as a meeting with the pharmacy unit once every other month. Opportunities for further trainings, participation in drills, activations, and exercises will be made available to you.
Who should I contact with questions?
Please contact Sarah Swiatek, CR-MRC Pharmacy Unit Leader, at srxswi@gmail.com.
