Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Ryan Gill, of East Granby, has earned a spot on the 2017-18 Assumption College men's track and field team. Gill, Class of 2020, is competing during the Greyhounds' winter and spring season, which began in January for the indoor season and will return March 23 at the annual Bridgewater State University Invitational for the outdoor season.

Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

  • Adam Holden of East Granby, a freshman majoring in engineering and management, was named a Presidential Scholar for the fall 2017 semester at Clarkson University. Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.
  • Matt David Hawthorne of Granby, a junior majoring in engineering and management, was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester at Clarkson University. Dean's List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

  • Tunxis Community College in Farmington has announced Jacob Camacho of Granby has qualified for the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. Students matriculated in a certificate or degree program who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have successfully completed 12 or more credits, or have earned 12 credits cumulatively over multiple semesters, are eligible for this academic honor.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

  • Six local students have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2017 semester. They are Allison Dube of East Granby, Highest Honors; Parker Berberian of Granby, Honors; Brian Rainville of Granby, High Honors; Austin Butler of Granby, High Honors; Jennifer Healy of Granby, Highest Honors; and Jack McCartney of Granby, Honors. Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits). Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

  • Two Granby residents were among more than 1,600 students named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2017 fall semester. The Dean's List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean's List. Local honorees are Amanda Jacobs, a senior chemistry major in the University's College of Arts and Sciences, and Emma Percival, a senior early and primary teacher education major in the University's Panuska College of Professional Studies.
