American International College, Springfield MA

  • Vida Tawia of East Granby received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, majoring in Nursing, from American International College and was among more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students representing 21 states and 12 countries who received their diplomas during American International College's commencement ceremony in May.

  • Asnuntuck Community College has announced that the following full and part-time students from East Granby and Granby have achieved Dean’s List status following their spring semester of studies:
    East Granby: Christine Byers, Taylor Malinowski, Morgan Stevens.
    Granby: Dolores Chamberlain, Steven McCormack, Scott Paton, Ada Shetler.
    Full-time students, who are matriculated in a certificate or degree program and who have successfully completed 12 or more credits of work in a semester with a grade point average of 3.4 or above are named to the list. Part-time students who are matriculated in a certificate or degree program are also eligible for such recognition when they have completed 12 or more credits of work with a grade point average of 3.4.

Dartmouth College, Hanover NH

  • Daniel Magoon, a North Granby resident and Granby Memorial High School graduate, was one of Dartmouth College’s four salutatorians for the Class of 2017 who graduated June 11 in Hanover, N.H. Daniel, an engineering sciences major, plans to complete the fifth year undergraduate program at the Thayer School of Engineering to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

  • Eastern Connecticut State University recently released the names of full-time students from Granby who were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester: Jonathan Blejewski, Caitlin Daleb, James Conroy and Griffin Hammack.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

  • Goodwin College's President's List for the spring 2017 session includes 316 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Granby honorees are Jodi D'Angelo and Eileen Kaczor.
  • Goodwin College announces that 964 students achieved Dean's List status for the spring 2017 session.
    Local students are Rachel Houde of East Granby, Jodi D'Angelo of Granby and Eileen Kaczor of Granby.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

  • The Alpha Iota Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Tunxis Community College in Farmington announced the names of those students who accepted membership in the honor society. They were formally recognized in May at an induction ceremony. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is recognized by the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges as the official honor fraternity of two-year colleges. To achieve eligibility for PTK, a student must complete at least 12 hours of associate’s degree course work and earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Throughout their enrollment, they must maintain high academic standing, generally a 3.25 GPA. About 100,000 students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa each year. Honorees from Granby are Kimberly Leydon, Health Information Technology (Certificate); and Kathleen Moody, Dental Hygiene.

University of Vermont, Burlington VT

  • At its 216th commencement celebration, spanning multiple ceremonies the weekend of May 20 and 21, the University of Vermont conferred degrees on an estimated 3,228 graduates, including 2,620 bachelor's, 386 master's, 106 doctoral and 116 medical degree recipients. Local degree recipients were Julienne Feinberg of Granby, Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, and Aubrey Koehler of East Granby, Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Movement Sciences.
