GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Goodwin College, East Hartford CT
- Granby resident Eileen Kaczor achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Goodwin College for the summer 2017 session, earning a spot on the elite President's List. The List is the highest academic honor roll at Goodwin College, a nonprofit school that believes that all students are capable of great success academically, professionally, and in their personal lives. To qualify for the President's List, a student must be enrolled in at least six credits at Goodwin College and earn perfect marks in all classes. She also earned a spot on the Goodwin College Dean's List, one of 731 students to make the Dean's List, reserved for those who demonstrate great academic performance. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

- Connor Hoeckele from the soccer team was named the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 22. Hoeckele, from Granby, was brilliant in a six-save effort in a scoreless draw Saturday night versus nationally-ranked Springfield. The result halted the Pride's perfect record at 13-0. It was also the senior's 30th career win and 18th career clean sheet. He then took the first of the four available shifts in an afternoon game on Sunday and went untested in 10-plus minutes. Hoeckele and the WPI men's soccer team later claimed the 2017 NEWMAC Championship via penalty kicks and qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Hoeckele also made the NEWMAC Men's Soccer All-Conference second team. A team captain and 2015 first teamer, posted a record of 10-5-2 while collecting six clean sheets and a pair of shared shutouts en route to a 0.75 GAA. He made four stops in a 4-0 win at Wheaton before a six-save 110-minute regular season meeting with Springfield. The four-year starter picked up his 20th career shutout with a seven-save effort in the NEWMAC title game before making two huge stops in the shootout. He was rewarded with tournament MOP honors for his efforts.
- Casey Hunt of Granby was among 61 fall student-athletes from WPI on their respective NEWMAC Academic All-Conference teams. She has achieved the honor in each year she has been eligible. Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2017 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at his/her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
