GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent notable achievements for college students from the Granbys, as reported by readMedia Newswire.

Colby College, Waterville ME

• Lainey N. Battiston of Boston, Mass. was one of 478 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, May 21, receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the college's 196th Commencement. Former Vice President Joe Biden was the guest speaker. Battiston, who majored in history, attended Ethel Walker School and is the daughter of Jeff Battiston of Granby and Kathleen Bernard of Freeport, Maine.

Colgate University, Hamilton NY

• Members of the Class of 2017 received their diplomas May 21 at the 196th Colgate University commencement, including Julia Benson, a French major Magna Cum Laude, and a graduate of Westminster School, from Granby; and Benjamin Fetzner, a Psychology & Music major Summa Cum Laude, a graduate of Granby Memorial High School, from West Granby.

Dean College, Franklin MA

• Dean College is pleased to announce that Caroline Short of East Granby has earned a place on the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• Samantha Martin of East Granby was named to the Emmanuel College Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

Lasell College, Newton MA

• Lasell College has released the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the spring 2017 semester. A student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher to receive Dean's List recognition. East Granby students earning this recognition are Danielle Sojka, Samantha Yekel and Carrolline Butler.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• Jennifer Miles of Granby graduated from the University of Hartford on Sunday, May 21. Miles, a communication major, received a Bachelor of Arts from the University's College of Arts and Sciences.
