GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent accomplishments of college and university students from Granby, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

  • WILLIMANTIC, CT — The Jazz Ensemble at Eastern Connecticut State University presented a concert on Dec. 2 in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) Concert Hall. Nicholas Sharp of Granby was one of the students who performed in the concert. Sharp majors in Business Administration. The Eastern Jazz Ensemble is composed of students who play traditional jazz instruments, including saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar and drums. The ensemble performs works from the standard and modern big band repertoire. Directed by Stacy Dziuk, the ensemble performed several selections from Thad Jones, T. Monk, Benny Golson, Fred Sturm and many more, providing a unique and entertaining show.
  • WILLIMANTIC, CT — Eastern Connecticut State University recently hosted its annual Scholarship Reception in the Fine Arts Instructional Center. The event brought together major ECSU Foundation scholarship donors and their respective student-recipients. This year students were awarded scholarships, totaling more than $600,000 in financial aid to students of all backgrounds and academic majors.
    Jonathan Blejewski of Granby was selected as the recipient of one of the prestigious scholarships. Blejewski's major is Accounting and Business Information Systems.
  • NASHVILLE, TN — Clayton Stupienski, a Granby native, qualified for the Fall 2016 Dean's List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
