Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • Jenna Snyder, of Granby, was one of 78 students selected to present an original academic research project at Assumption College's 24th Annual Undergraduate Symposium, held April 23-24 on the College's Worcester campus. The Undergraduate Symposium showcases the academic research and scholarly achievements of Assumption students working in collaboration with dedicated faculty mentors. These collaborations represent a model for integrating teaching, original research, and the beneficial effects of peer review in promoting intellectual development and professional growth. The symposium provides the campus community with the opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of and applaud the individual and collective accomplishments of the College's faculty and students. Snyder, a member of the Class of 2018, presented "Dancing with Down Syndrome: A Look at the Effects and Benefits of Dance Movement Therapy on the Emotional Well-Being and Overall Quality of Life for Individuals with Down Syndrome." Snyder's project examined how dance movement therapy, which combines the creativity of dance and the functionality of physical therapy, can be an appropriate approach to increasing and improving the emotional well-being and overall quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln NE

  • Brigitte Elise Rathey of Granby was among nearly 3,200 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during commencement exercises May 4 and 5. Rathey earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
