GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — College classes resumed about two weeks ago, but Patch is still receiving notifications of accomplishments by local students from the summer and even this past spring from readMedia Newswire.
University of Scranton, Scranton PA
- Amanda Jacobs of Granby was among seven University of Scranton undergraduate students granted President's Fellowships for Summer Research in 2017. The fellowships, administered by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, offer each student the chance to partner with a faculty mentor to complete a research project during the summer. Each project was proposed and designed by the student and their faculty mentor. Jacobs partnered with David Marx, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry to research "A Novel Silver Containing Hydrogel Wound Dressing."
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

- Casey Hunt of Granby, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in management engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in London. The project was titled Assessing the One Planet Sutton Sustainability Strategy.
