Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • On May 16, Eastern Connecticut State University awarded degrees to 60 graduate students.
    Rebecca Eisch of East Granby received a graduate degree in Accounting.

  • Marissa Bascom of East Granby is the recipient of the 2017 Springfield College Body Award. This award is presented to a student who, while at Springfield College, has made an extraordinary contribution to improving the health and physical well-being of individuals at the College or in the surrounding community through cocurricular and extracurricular efforts. The recipient demonstrates the valuable impact that individuals can make in changing the places, organizations, and systems that touch the lives of people, whether at work or at play, and exemplifies the College's commitment to overall wellness and constructive, cooperative community engagement.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

  • Emma Percival of Granby is among 18 University of Scranton education majors serving as student teachers during the fall semester at 11 different local schools, which include the following six school districts: Forest City Regional, Lakeland, North Pocono, Scranton, Valley View and Wayne Highlands.
    Percival is serving as a student teacher at Stourbridge Primary Center in the Wayne Highlands School District.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Amanda O'Connor of Granby was welcomed into Western New England University's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society on August 25, during the University's Convocation ceremony. O'Connor is majoring in Sociology - Crime & Society. Founded in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students that encourages and recognizes superior academic achievement. Alpha Lambda Delta seeks to promote intelligent living, a continued high standard of learning, and encourages students to recognize and develop meaningful goals for their roles in society. Members pledge to use their education to benefit the community, the college, the nation, and the world. Acceptance is based on attaining a minimum grade point average of 3.50 in their first semester of study or a 3.50 cumulative average at the end of the first year.
