Charges Erased Against Former Daycare Owner

The East Granby woman completed an accelerated rehabilitation program.

A former daycare owner from East Granby has completed an accelerated rehabilitation program that has cleared her record of any criminal charges in connection with an incident last summer involving a 3-month-old baby.

Pamela Lacharite reportedly left the baby girl in the back seat of her car for 20 minutes when she went into Valley Brook Community Church to pick up children from Vacation Bible School in July 2014.

Police said the temperature was close to 85 degrees outside, but the infant was found to be safe.

Granby Police Chief Carl Rosensweig said at the time, “She said that she just forgot about the child she was caring for. It wasn’t her child and she had just forgotten. As soon as she realized the mistake, she ran out to the car and found the church workers taking care of the child.”

Lacharite was charged with risk of injury to a minor, a felony, and leaving a child unsupervised in a public place or car. Since she successfully completed the accelerated rehabilitation program, those charges will be erased from her record.
