Today is Sunday March 6, 2011 and there are 300 days left in the year. Better bring your umbrella today. The National Weather Service is calling for a 50 percent chance of rain today. Use caution while driving, it could be a bit foggy too.
If you need an indoor activity today, try the Children's Museum in West Hartford. A compelling exhibit of photographic portraits of children in need of adoptive families will be on display in the Mezzanine Gallery of The Children’s Museum from Saturday, February 19 through the end of April. The Heart Gallery was begun in Connecticut in 2003 as a partnership between local photographers, The Hartford Courant, The Department of Children and Families (DCF) and area agencies that recruit and train foster/adoptive families. The exhibit, featuring 21 portraits, travels to various public exhibit spaces across the state throughout the year.
After that, it's back over the mountain to Canton for a true New England tradition. The Roaring Brook Nature Center invites you to its annual demonstration on how to make maple syrup, from identifying the tree to tasting the final product. The program starts at 2 p.m. and runs until 3 p.m.

For those who want to explore their musical side, take a ride over to East Granby tonight for the East Granby Congregational Church Sunday Night Alive Workshop. This is an all ages non-traditional interactive worship service. We sing more contemporary music (keyboard and guitar), and talk together rather than hear a sermon preached by one person. The workshop starts at 6:30 p.m.
